You don't say which EDG version you're installing, but I assume 1.4.x. I
would be very surprised if you can get the CE or SE to work properly using
RH 7, let alone 9! I would suggest using the standard RH6 LCFG
installation for the CE and SE, and just trying RH9 or whatever for the
worker nodes.
Also, in case you didn't know, release 2.0 is expected Real Soon Now
(TM) and is substantially different, so you might be better off waiting
(you could even try installing the latest test tag if you just want to get
a feel for how it works).
