Dear Colleagues,
We are happy to announce PISA, a platform and
programming language independent interface for
blackbox optimization:
http://www.tik.ee.ethz.ch/pisa/
Mainly designed for algorithm designers in
the multiobjective domain, PISA allows
* to easily exchange different optimization
strategies, and
* to apply your optimization method to different
test problems and applications
without any reprogramming effort (plug & optimize).
The Website contains several ready-to-use
multiobjective optimizers compiled for different
platforms as well as different benchmark problems and
a complex application (network processor design).
PISA is meant as an orthogonal concept to
programming libraries, and we certainly do not
claim that it is suited for all optimization scenarios.
Our aim is
* to improve the transparency and fairness of empirical
comparisons,
* to reduce the programming effort for both
algorithm designers and application engineers, and
* to improve the availabilty and dispersion of different
optimization strategies.
Comments, suggestions, and criticism are welcome.
