The following training will deliver the skills and resources to support
clinical governance, clinical effectiveness and increase public health
capacity leading to greater awareness of evidence-based practice in your
team, organisation or locality. The workshops also provide a great
opportunity to network with colleagues.
All Are Welcome!
If you are relatively new to the formal study of critical appraisal or would
like to refresh your existing knowledge then the following workshops would
be suitable for you.
20th August 2003 - Critical appraisal of Systematic Reviews
Critical appraisal is the process of systematically weighing up the quality
and relevance of 'research' Evidence suggests that good research fails to
get in to practice because over 70% of health-care professionals would not
be able to critically appraise a research paper. If you are relatively new
to the formal study of critical appraisal or would like to 'top-up' your
knowledge, this workshop is for you.
Booking Deadline is Tuesday 5th August 2003.
27th August 2003 - Critical appraisal of Qualitative Research
Qualitative research is widely accepted as an integral component of the
'evidence-base' in health and social care. However, learning around issues
in qualitative research has had relatively less attention in many formal
learning programmes. The resulting knowledge gap allows this fast growing
evidence base to remain untapped.
If you are familiar with the concepts of critical appraisal but would like
to learn more about the increasingly prominent 'qualitative' research
methods, then this workshop is for you.
Booking Deadline is Wednesday 13th August 2003.
Critical appraisal skills can help you in making informed decisions, in
evidencing proposals and researching for reports. In addition to teaching
critical appraisal skills and encouraging the use of evidence in
decision-making, CASP workshops help to build public health capacity and to
support clinical governance and clinical effectiveness in the workplace.
