Dear all,
The programme for the British Ecological Annual Meeting at Manchester
Metropolitan University (MMU) 9 Sept. to 11 Sept. is now on the British
Ecological Society Web page:
http://www.britishecologicalsociety.org/articles/meetings/current/2003/annualmeeting_mmu
including the thematic session TT1: The past as the key to the present?
Temporal scales in wetland ecology scheduled for all day on Tuesday 9
Sept. but also a session on Mire and Paleo-ecology on Wednesday 10 Sept.
(afternoon) and a poster session: Mire Ecology. The Mires Research
Group Annual General Meeting is on Tuesday evening at 20:30 (Geoffrey
Manton Building, Room GM330).
May I remind you that the deadline to register is the 8 August 03.
Registration can be done online:
http://www.britishecologicalsociety.org/articles/meetings/current/2003/annualmeeting_mmu/bookingform.
However, if you wish to come on the field visit to Whixall and
Bettisfield Mosses on Monday the 8 Sept. you may wish to book
accommodation at MMU for the evening of Sunday 7 Sept.. To book this
you will need to complete a hard copy of the booking form, adding the
extra night’s accommodation on the form and your intention of going on
the field visit. A version of this form is available on the above web
address (/bookingform) to print, complete off-line and mail/fax to the
BES. If you send the booking form electronically because you do not
require the extra night please inform me by e-mail
([log in to unmask]) of your intention to come on the field visit.
This is so that we have an idea of numbers for booking a minibus or
coach to get to the site (this will be free – paid for by the BES/MRG).
More information will be available shortly on the field visit. But it
will involve a full day leaving at 9:00 probably with pack lunches. We
are trying to get together a comprehensive package about the site in
terms of paleoecological records and management of the site.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
Best wishes,
Deborah
Secretary of the Mires Research Group
PS If you are not a member of the BES please note that by paying the
membership fee (£30) and your registration fee for BES Members (£40) is
the same cost as the registration fee for non-BES Members (i.e. £70). A
