Situated within the Faculty of Engineering, Physical Sciences and
Architecture, the School of Information Technology & Electrical
Engineering is one of the premier research and teaching schools in
Australia, with a strong, internationally recognised research base and
a large postgraduate student body. Comprising 70 academic staff, 180
postgraduate research students and 1,500 equivalent full-time
coursework students, the School is closely linked with a number of
important research centres.
The Information Environments Program, based at the Ipswich campus,
recently graduated its first undergraduate students. The Program is
growing its postgraduate enrollments and has offered a new Bachelor of
Multimedia Design program from 2003.
The new program is studio based, and will provide a comprehensive
introduction to the principles and practices of multimedia design,
production, management and evaluation. The major focus of the program
is on the integration of theory and technology, and their practical
application to industry projects. Areas that are included in Multimedia
Design are game design, animation, sound production, three-dimensional
modelling, internet authoring, and all interactive media design.
Responsibilities include research, supervision of graduate students,
preparation and management of research and creative projects, and
graduate and undergraduate teaching in various study programs.
Applicants must hold a higher degree in a field relevant to Multimedia
Design or an equivalent mix of qualifications and experience. Level of
appointment will depend on qualifications and relevant academic
experience. More than one position may be available.
These are continuing, full-time appointments. The remuneration package
will be in the range of $45,023 - $61,070 per annum (Associate Lecturer
- Level A); $64,285 - $76,338 per annum (Lecturer - Level B); or
$78,749 - $90,802 per annum (Senior Lecturer - Level C), which includes
employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary. Attractive
market loadings and start-up packages are available for suitable
candidates.
