On Thursday 3rd July 2003, the Preston branch of the BCS in co-operation
with the ChiCi group (www.chici.org) is hosting a talk by Professor
Kari-Jouko Räihä on Gaze-Based Human Computer Interaction. Kari is from
Tampere University, Finland and is the leader of the TAUCHI unit for HCI.
His research interests include the methods and techniques for using new
modalities (such as speech and eye-gaze) for interacting with computers and
gadgets (See the website for Gaze based HCI at
http://www.cs.uta.fi/hci/gaze). The talk will take place between 7pm and
8.30pm in the Greenbank Lecture Theatre at the University of Central
Lancashire Preston. Registration is free, and interested parties should
reserve a place by emailing [log in to unmask] Directions will be sent by
return of email. Preston is easily accessible by motorway and rail, being
on the West Coast mainline and being ten minutes from the M6 and M61.
This talk follows the final day's proceedings of the Interaction Design and
Children Conference (www.idc2003.org) , and visitors who arrive in Preston
early may attend some of the conference sessions by arrangement with
