IGC2003: WORKSHOP ON INTERACTIVE GRAPHICAL COMMUNICATION.

1. Overview:
IGC2003 is a one-day multi-disciplinary workshop focusing on the use of
graphical representations in human communication. Topics of interest
include but are not limited to;
* evolution of graphical representations,
* comparisons of virtual and actual graphical media,
* graphical 'sub-languages',
* technologies for graphical interaction,
* form and meaning in graphical communication,
* graphical annotation,
* the interactions between graphics and other modalities,
* empirical studies of drawing-in-interaction,
* changes in iconicity and abstraction during interaction,
* graphical 'gestures' in drawing.
Guest Speaker: Daniel Schwartz, Dept. of Education, Stanford
University. Title: "Emergence in Visualisation"

2. Practicalities:
The workshop will be held Institute for Contemporary Arts (ICA) in
Central London (http://www.ica.org.uk/
http://www.ica.org.ukindex.cfm?articleid=54). It is open to all, and
will be free for all presenters and demonstrators. For all other
attendees there will be a charge of £45 to cover the costs.
There will be a workshop dinner on the evening of the 25th at the Sugar
Club (http://www.thesugarclub.co.uk/). There will be an additional £20
charge for the dinner.

Places are limited so you must register for the workshop if you are
