Interview Arrangements
Interviews will take place during the week beginning 1 September 2003.
FURTHER DETAILS OF THE POST
The Department has identified heritage as an important focus and
catalyst for future expansion, particularly in terms teaching at
postgraduate level and through the provision of accredited short courses
and continuous professional development (CPD) courses. At present, we
run successful postgraduate Diploma/MA courses in Cultural Landscape
Management, Cultural Heritage Management and Landscape Management &
Environmental Archaeology. We are seeking to extend activities in this
area by appointing a specialist with a research record in heritage,
heritage management or related field. Preference may be given to someone
with expertise in aspects of the heritage and culture of Wales.
The main aims of the post are to develop potentially successful
programmes of teaching/training in consultation with external
agencies/organisations (e.g. Archaeological Trusts, Cadw, Countryside
Council for Wales, Environment Agency, Forest Enterprise and Institute
of Field Archaeologists); and to submit bids for funding to enable these
programmes to be launched in 2004/5. Experience of collaboration with
external agencies would therefore be extremely valuable. An ability to
speak Welsh would be an advantage.
The person appointed will also be expected to contribute to postgraduate
and undergraduate teaching. This will include a contribution to Heritage
Project Management in the Modern World, one of the core modules on our
postgraduate Diploma courses.
Although the appointment is initially half-time and for one-year, it is
hoped that the post will be extended and made full-time from October
2004.
