Can anyone identify a real patient in their department who would NOT
require a CT using the published risk factors.
All my drunks on a saturday night who might have a head injury have a GCS
of 13 or 14 2 hours after the injury.
As to the over 65's that come from the nursing homes with a possible head
injury, they have all been "unconscious" according to the letter that comes
with them from the home, and there is never a witness with them.
But since they all turn up at night or at weekends when the CT is not
scheduled for elective work, I suppose the radiologists will be pleased to
improve the efficiency of the machine usage won't they? Or is it true what
they say that if you keep using the kit it will wear out and you will have
to buy another one!
