Jim
The data is for one of my students. I am familiar with the effects of FDI
at the macro level and of course, empirical work applied to macro data sets.
In the last five years or so, there have been studies at the micro level
(Mexico, Venezuela for example- see Harrison, Aitken, etc) but firm survey
data is usually not readily available and difficult to find unless you
acquire it (e.g. from official institutions in developing countries). In
fact, last year Nick Stern (World Bank) suggested the need for collecting
data at the firm level in one of his lectures in London.
We did not want to write a long e-mail explaining what my student wants to
research on or attach a list of variables. My student did a search and
according to him, he could not find readily available data on the internet
unless we requested and paid for it. Finally, note that it is polite not
to reply to all members of the list...and I do not like the tone of your
reply. If you do not wish to help, please do not do so.
Regards
Carmen
PS. I am copying this correspondance to my student.
