I've been saying that for years. We are also turning out too many docs in medicine who want to work part time and they certainly don't want to be wrestling with the drunks on Saturday night in A&E. 500K to train a doc and the attrition rate is over 30% dropping out within 5 years. They are using the wrong selection criteria, A'levels do not equate with being a good doc. Playing rugby drinking lots of beer made good doctors in my day.
Due to the EWD's and the PC brigade out of hours staffing is going to be a massive problem over the next few years. Depts. like ours are going to struggle to recruit SG's. Ours are off to GP land. I wish I'd kept my gob shut, was ten years younger and hadn't blotted my copy book and I'd be after them.
