...Interesting point, but i would say that everyone needs to be aware of
the different perspectives to look at disability - of course many people
will feel no need for a social perspective and life may indeed be fine
without such education, but to ignore the experience of prejudice of
others because of differences in life paths would be extremely ignorant,
naive and selfish, just as it would be to say that everyone should see
their life from a social perspective - to understand both sides allows
people to understand the way oppression and prejudice are not always
unviversal but are subject to class, financial and other life
experiences which need addressing alongside understanding medical and
social models of disability...therefore those individuals who are happy
as they are will become less judgemental and understand the complexity
of other peoples lives not so fortunate.
