CASE studentship - Unexpectedly re-available!
CASE studentship: School of Business and Social Sciences, University of
Surrey Roehampton and Office for National Statistics
Applications are invited for a 3-year* ESRC CASE studentship beginning
October 1 2003, on ‘Scientific Employment and Gender: an analysis of career
and family trajectories using the ONS Longitudinal Study’, held
collaboratively with the Longitudinal Study Unit at the Office for National
Statistics, and supervised by Dr Louisa Blackwell (ONS) and Dr Judith Glover
(USR).
The research will use the Office for National Statistics’ Longitudinal Study
to explore the trajectories of women and men science graduates, quantify
attrition from science, engineering and technology occupations and explore
the factors associated with attrition. Change over time in these
trajectories will be examined (1971, 1981, 1991 and 2001).
Value of studentship
The London rate for full-time studentships will be paid (for 2002-3 around
£10,300 per annum, likely to be raised to £11,000 in 2003-4) plus an extra
£1450 per annum paid to the student by the Office for National Statistics
for living expenses
For further information, contact Judith Glover ([log in to unmask] or
0208 392 3477) by mid-June at the very latest.
*Or 4-year if the student does not have a recognised Master’s degree, in
which case the 1+3 model would be appropriate.
