Hi, Patricia,
I am told by folks in Canada who are using Qualrus for a very large
qualitative analysis project that it handles the French language text fine,
including all of the accents and features of French that sometimes trip up
programs. They are actually using the program to analyze open-ended
responses in both French and English to a web site in which the Canadian
government asked Canadian citiziens for their suggestions and opinions on
foreign policy--an exciting and worthy project in my estimation and we are
proud to contribute in some small way to it. Qualrus is able to detect text
phrases in either language simultaneously and assign codes, so they can use
the one set of codes to analyze both the English and Francophone dataset.
I hope this helps.
Note that I am one of the developers of Qualrus, so I leave it to others to
comment on how well the program handles the various languages. If you would
like to talk to them I can put you in touch.
