Dear Ursula:
I believe that we last saw each other in Bogota several years ago. In
any case, my first thoughts on possible sources come from a
Colombian project that a team from Colombia and the U. S. did about a
decade ago. Its focus on use of community health workers in Cali
naturally implied dealing with health problems of the urban poor.
It produced the following extended research report and two articles:
B. Barona, J. Becerra, V.H. Becerra, A. Bongiovanni, V. Essayan,
R.L. Robertson, W. Sanchez, D. Shepard, EVALUATION OF A VOLUNTEER-BASED
PRIMARY HEALTH CARE PROGRAM TO SERVE THE URBAN POOR IN CALI, COLOMBIA
(Waltham MA: Brandeis University, Heller School, Institute for Health
Policy, October 1994).
R.L. Robertson, B. Barona, V.H. Becerra, D.S. Shepard, J. Becerra,
A. Bongiovanni, V. Essayan, "Un Programa de Atencion Primaria en Salud
Basado en Voluntarias en Cali: Metas vs Realidad," COLOMBIA MEDICA,
Vol. 28, No. 4 , 1997, pp. 167-176.
B. Barona, V. H. Becerra, R.L. Robertson, D.S.Shepard, "Costos de un
Programa de Atencion Primaria de Salud Basado en Voluntarias, COLOMBIA
MEDICA, Vol. 28, No. 2, 1997, pp. 85-91.
Buena suerte en sus trabajos,
