Dear All,
I know that my easyJet case study was popular with hundreds of people world
wide (honest!) and I have done it again: 2nd edition now that brings us
right up to date ... as at 6 May 2003.
Just go to http://www.duncanwil.co.uk/pdfs.html and click on the link for
the easyJet 2nd edition to download a ZIPped version of a PDF file. It's
free of charge.
My conclusion is that easyJet is badly managed and that we can tell this
from at least two points of view:
1 the numbers they provide are all iffy as far as I can tell
2 the nature and tone of the Chairman's and Chief Executive's Reports are
dreadful: for example, one quarter of the Chairman's Statement is concerned
with the Higgs Report ... completely inappropriate.
Some of you will find that there are some useful ideas in this case that
scream out to be included in your final revision classes for one or more
GCSE Business Studies exam: eg, easyJet claims to be deeply committed to
organic growth except that they just grew massively by acquiring Go Fly!!
could be worth a few extra marks.
In case you lost it or missed it, edition one is still there, just scroll
down the page for the link and click away.
All comments and criticisms eagerly awaited.
Best wishes for a scorching weekend.
