Hmmm... having (now) tried to read the specs :-)
http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml-modularization/abstract_modules.html#s_metamodule
my understanding is that in the <meta> element
- the name attribute is an NMTOKEN, and
- the scheme attribute is CDATA
Therefore, in
name="dc:title"
'dc' is treated as a namespace prefix (and the namespace should be
declared). Assuming that I've got my facts correct, this is quite a good
thing I think? However, in
scheme="dcterms:W3CDTF"
'dcterms' is not treated as a namespace prefix. "dcterms:W3CDT" is just a
string. It doesn't break the spec, but there is no default benefit to the
parser of using that form. However, given that DC-aware parsers will have
to treat
scheme="W3CDTF"
in a special way anyway, it does no harm to encourage the use of
'dcterms:W3CDTF"?
Again, comment/questions/corrections are welcome.
Andy.
