Hello all,
I would like to invite those of you with an interest in the problems
associated with assigning identifiers to Learning Objects to a special SIG
meeting on this topic. This will be slightly different to previous SIG
meetings in that it will focus entirely on in-depth discussion of a single
issue.
We will use Andy Powell's recent discussion paper as a starting point; if
other people want to circulate discussion papers before the meeting, then
they can be considered as well. Andy's paper is available here:
http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/distributed-systems/lo-identifiers/. The aim of the
meeting will be to make significant progress towards framing
recommendations on identifiers which can be used alongside the UKCMF (or
whatever it is called by then).
Where: University of Bristol
When: Tue 1 July
Time: agenda not yet finalised, but to allow people to travel to Bristol,
we will start at around 11am and finish before 5pm.
Who should come: places for this meeting are limited so, at least in the
first instance, I ask that you book a place only if you have some
experience with using identifiers and have something to contribute to the
discussion. (If you are in the position of not knowing much about
identifiers but realising that you need to know more, then this is not the
right meeting for you -- we will cover identifiers in a more general way in
the next SIG meeting.) If you're not sure whether you should come, then get
in touch and I'll explain more.
Booking a place: please let me know by email if you are interested in
coming. It would help if you gave me some indication of your interests in
this area.
Best regards,
Phil.
