*Apologies for cross-posting to those of you also on CETIS EC SIG list*
There are a few spaces left at the next CETIS Educational Content SIG
meeting in Huddersfield on the 6th June, details at:
http://www.cetis.ac.uk/groups/20010809144711/20030425111912/
Because there are three digital repository projects presenting, I
thought some Metadata SIG folk might be interested.
The Agenda:
James Dalziel of WebMCQ, who presented a beta version of their IMS
Learning Design inspired tool LAMS at the last meeting, has agreed to do
a remote demo of the new improved LAMS from his desk in Australia at the
next meeting.
Since the last meeting they've added some new tools, including an MCQ
tool, and a generic content tool with upload and runtime modes. They are
planning to have a stable Version 1 of LAMS done by May 16th, and James
says that it will be ready for viewing by June 6th, so he'll dial in and
walk us through it remotely.
On top of this, we will have:
- live demos of three Huddersfield-based learning object repositories,
with examples of how learning objects have been used in VLEs etc.
- a presentation on the latest on X4L project RELOAD which will have its
content packaging tool ready for viewing, and perhaps some hints on the
IMS Learning Design tool to come.
- a short taster on Huddersfield project Learning Creativity Profile
Generator, which aims to ascertain learning styles and preferences of
students and present them with appropriate content and learning paths.
- a presentation from Prof. Tom Boyle, explaining how they used learning
objects in his institution to increase student pass and retention rates.
... and of course all the latest gossip from IMS, IEEE, CEN/ISSS and all
those other standards bodies we love so much.
Book now if you want to come. All you have to do is drop me an e-mail.
Let me know if you have any special dietary or other needs, and if you'd
rather your name was not on the participants' list.
Best wishes
Sarah
