With apologies for cross posting
Learning and Teaching Portal Scenario
Polite request for your input to enable effective design interfaces to be
developed.
LTSN and JISC are currently running a joint project to produce a set of
services for HE and FE learning and teaching communities. Services planned
include:
· A funding opportunities database detailing all opportunities
related to teaching and learning
· An agency mapping database that will enable users to discover
information about learning and teaching agencies UK wide
· A discussion forum that will hosting both national and
international virtual events. The knowledge built through these developed
discussions will be synthesised and become resources for future use.
· A cross searching facility enabling users to discover resources for
learning and teaching across a range of data bases including JISC, LTSN and
other partner agency's sites.
We are currently in the process of developing the funding opportunities and
agency mapping database and are seeking input from the community on how you
might use this service.
We are therefore inviting you to contribute scenarios of how they might use
such a resource. Examples of each follow, but style is immaterial
George is a learning technologist working in a medium sized university on a
short-term contract. He has been developing an interactive CD to enhance
biology field trips within his institution. He has completed the majority
of the work but has been asked to add further features to the resource and
requires funding for a further six months to complete the tasks.
He goes to the web and finds the funding opportunities service. He needs
to find the following information; a body providing funding for his
discipline and sector, who would have to sign off the bid, how many bids
are available per institution and how he applies for the funding.
I have just come back from a meeting with some Scottish colleagues and they
might just as well have been talking in Gaelic. As a Senior Manager in an
FEI I did not like to show my ignorance and ask what every agency acronym
meant, but now I will have to quickly find out. But the Scottish system is
so different from the English one and I need to make sense of not only what
these agencies do but also if there is any structural relationship between
them. It would be handy knowing who to contact about their widening
participation agenda too.
I you have a scenario you can offer, please could you send it to
