Apologies for cross-posting.
As part of a large ongoing field-project, we are looking at ways for
recording the condition of archaeological sites as well as the threat that
they are under within the SMR. Condition will be recorded using the agreed
wordlist available on FISH / INSCRIPTION website
(http://www.mda.org.uk/fish/i_c.htm). However I cannot find an agreed
wordlist for recording the threat to a site.
The nearest I have come to such a wordlist is one used by Monuments
Protection Programme (see below), where "vulnerability" is recorded (such as
"animal burrowing" or "arable ploughing"), as well as the "stability" (such
a "gradual (decline)" or "stable").
Has anyone else used similar wordlists in an SMR or field survey situation,
and can provide me with any further advice / comments? Is there a standard
agreed wordlist for recording vulnerability / threat?
