In our Cultural Heritage metadata collection we have harvested about 2.6
million DC records from various OAI repositories, including EAD finding Aids
which we have mapped to DC. For details see http://oai.grainger.uiuc.edu/.
Doing a quick search for '<type>image</type>' reveals about 170,000 hits.
For our own OAI data providers we also use image pretty frequently.
