Hi Phil,
Sorry to hear this is causing you such pain and grief.....Did you try
the solution that Ben suggested? When I saw Erik in Paris I mentioned
that you'd been having difficulties validating the binding. As far a I
can remember I think he said that this was a known issue and suggested a
solution similar to Ben's. I'm really sorry I can't provide more
helpful information, I'm afraid I'm pretty useless when it comes to the
XML side of things! I'd suggest mailing Erik again to see if he can
help.
Bye for now
Lorna

>Subject: Stability of IEEE LOM XML binding

>>Hi there,
>>
>>In a recent e-mail Andy Powell raised a query about the stability of the
>>draft IEEE LOM XML binding. This is an issue I have raised with both Dan
>>Rehak and Erik Duval recently.
>>
>>At the IMS meeting in Vancouver in February Dan said that he did not
>>envisage any major changes to the draft LOM binding that can be
>>downloaded from Erik's website. However given the nature of the IEEE's
>>balloting procedure it could be the end of the year before the binding
>>is formally approved, as even minor typographical changes require
>>re-balloting. So although it may take some time for the binding to
>>become a formal standard it should be stable enough to implement.
>>
>>At the CEN/ISSS Learning Technology Workshop meeting in Paris last week
>>Erik Duval provided an update of progress within the IEEE, I will
>>forward a copy of his powerpoint presentation once I receive a copy from
>>the workshop secretary. He said that he has made all the XML binding
>>documents available form his own website to ensure that they are easily
>>accessible and has recently added the ballot document. In addition he
>>is actively seeking comments and feedback on this binding so I would
>>suggest that anyone who has had a play around with it should drop him a
>>mail at [log in to unmask] He also added that ARIADNE has
>>created a bunch of LOM instances using the new binding that can be
>>downloaded from the ARIADNE website at http://www.ariadne-eu.org/
>>although I haven't managed to track these down yet!
>>
>>I'll keep you posted if I hear anything else.
>>
>>Bye
