TOPICS
We invite contributions on all topics related to Human-Computer
Interaction including technical, empirical and theoretical aspects. In
keeping with the theme 'New Directions in Interaction: Information
Environments, Media and Technology', topics of interest include:
Information Environments
* Computer mediated communication
* Computer supported cooperative work
* Affective user interfaces and emotion
* Virtual reality and 3-D interfaces
Interaction Design
* User studies and fieldwork including ethnographic methods
* Analysis and design methods including task and interaction
modelling, scenarios, storyboards
* Participatory design and cooperative design techniques
* Methods for incorporating user and cognitive models
into design processes
New Technology
* Ubiquitous computing and smart environments
* Augmented reality and tangible interfaces
* Context-aware computing
* Novel input and interaction technologies including speech I/O
and tactile input technologies
PAPER SUBMISSIONS
Full-length papers on original and substantive new work in any area of
Human-Computer Interaction are invited.
* Research papers should describe work that makes a significant
contribution to the state of the art.
* Experience papers should describe broad insights gained from
practical applications of HCI.
All papers will be subject to a double blind review process by an
international panel and evaluated on the basis of their significance,
originality, and clarity of writing. Accepted papers will be available
in the published proceedings. For guidelines and submission details see
the conference web site:
http://www.ozchi2003.itee.uq.edu.au/submission/
Paper submission by 6 June 2003
Notification by 4 August 2003
Camera ready papers by 29 August 2003
OTHER SUBMISSIONS
Please follow the detailed instructions in the paper template for these
submissions. http://www.ozchi2003.itee.uq.edu.au/submission/
Tutorials are one day, or half day events designed to offer a small
number of participants the opportunity to learn about specific HCI
related concepts, methods and techniques. We welcome both research and
industry tutorial submissions.
Tutorial proposals should be submitted by 6 June 2003.
Workshops are one day, or half day, events at which participants explore
particular research topics. A workshop should have specific objectives,
raise stimulating issues, and aim to report its activity as a conference
poster or subsequent publication.
Workshop proposals should be submitted by 6 June 2003.
Short papers and posters provide the opportunity to describe new work or
work that is still in progress. Poster sessions provide an interactive
forum in which authors can present work to conference attendees while
short papers are presented as a 15 minute seminar.
Short paper and posters should be submitted by 15 August 2003.
Demonstrations and videos of original applications and technologies are
encouraged. Peer reviewed demonstrations and videos show early
implementations of novel, interesting, and important interaction
concepts or interface systems. They can also serve to showcase
commercial products not previously described in the research literature.
Descriptions of demonstrations and videos should be submitted by 15
August 2003.
Doctoral colloquium offers PhD students a special forum where they will
have a chance to present their research plans and discuss them with
peers and established senior researchers.
Submit applications by 15 August 2003.
