Sibling Stories : The Current State of Anglo-Franco-German Relations
Thursday 24 April / 7 pm / in English
The last sixty years have seen a historically remarkable period of
peace and co-operation between France, Germany and Britain, now
Europe's dominant powers. A panel of politicians and experts examines
the tensions and the synergies between the politics, economics and
cultures of the three nations, both on and off the EU stage.
For the first time, The Economist, Institut français and the Goethe-
Institut Inter Nationes are collaborating on a round table exploring
Anglo-Franco-German relations in today's troubled times. Half a century
after the bloodiest world war, are our differences so important ?
Whether on the future of Europe, our relations to the United States,
our vision of the world, the responsability of our countries is
essential.
Dame Pauline Neville-Jones (BBC International Governor), Wolf Lepenies,
German sociologist and historian of the Institute for Advanced Study
Berlin, Bernard Guetta, reporter and author of several books of
geopolitics, Tom Arbuthnott from the Foreign Policy Centre will discuss
with Gideon Rachman (Brussels Correspondent at The Economist) how our
three countries will come together in their endeavour.
Institut français, 17 Queensberry Place, South Kensington
Free admission, the talk will be followed by a glass of wine
