Hi Tracy
1. I can help with Question 3
EC rules and regulations, and the implementation of them, concerning
occupational health and safety for computer users / computer workers /
office workers, etc. The lecturer has to do a project on "Occupational
health and safety".
2. The Regulations.....
European directive, No. 90/270/EEC of 29 May 1990, on minimum safety and
health requirements for work with display screen equipment.
Official Journal of the European Communities, No. L 156, pp14-18 21 June
1990
Note the term 'display screen equipment' 'dse'
so you you need to use these terms if you are searching as well as the
variations - e.g vdus, visual display units, vdt , visual display
terminals etc
I have a copy of the Directive if you wish I can either electronically or
on the fax - let me know
3. UK interpretation of the European Directive is
The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992
Statutory Instrument SI 1992 No. 2792.......
Go to www.hmso.gov.uk. for legislation generally but you can direct to
www.hmso.gov.uk/si/si1992/Uksi_19922792_en_1.htm for this SI 2792
4. For further advice (as well as Vernon's suggestion of UK advice and
guidance www.hse.gov.uk)
Suggest if the lecturer is looking for occupational health and safety he
goes to our web site
www.oshworld.com
linked from OSHWORLD are many good web sites e.g
European Agency for Safety and Health at Work SPAIN
http://europe.osha.eu.int
European Agency for Safety and Health at Work site gives information and
links to other European Member States web sites, gives details of
legislation, including European Union Directives, research, good practices
Also links to the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the
Canadian Centre for Occupational Safety and Health, International Labour
Office in Switzerland, Norway, Australia, Iceland national centres. Sources
of statistical information, surveys and other related information from
European Member States and other countries. Also information from Eurostat
- the European Statistical Office.
Suggest you go to NIOSH web site -excellent
Hope this helps to make a better day for you!
Best wishes

Hallo Everyone
My name is Tracy and today (1 April) is my official day as the librarian
for the EDC at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. I took over
from my colleague, Peter du Plessis, who became the subject librarian for
Political Science, English and Philosophy. At the moment I feel kind of
lost, although I had some training in cataloguing my books, etc.
Unfortunately, just my luck, I already have three major law-related
inquiries, which of course I have no idea how to solve.
I have minimum experience concerning Eur-Lex and no experience in the Law
profession, and would be therefore forever thankful if somebody can help
me.
The three inquiries are
Question 1
Information on the inheritance and law of succession in the UK.
What is the requirements for the execution of a valid will?
Are provision made for condemnation and how is it applied?
Question 2
Information on the characteristics of the Netherlands Deeds Registry.
Question 3
EC rules and regulations, and the implementation of them, concerning
occupational health and safety for computer users / computer workers /
office workers, etc. The lecturer has to do a project on "Occupational
health and safety".
I hope to hear from anybody soon!
Hope you have a better day than me!!
Kind regards
Tracy
