ESRC CASE PhD studentship: 3 years
A three year PhD studentship is available to UK or EU students under
the ESRC CASE (collaborative) awards scheme. It is available from
autumn 2003 (precise date to be negotiated) and is sponsored and
managed by the University of Hull (supervisor Professor Gary Craig)
and the Family Welfare Association (supervisor Ms Helen Dent). The
studentship will be to the value of at least £9,000 per year plus
£1,500 per year supplement from the FWA plus all travel and
subsistence costs, plus office and necessary facilities. UK-rate
academic fees will be met by the ESRC.
The student will explore the economic contribution of refugees to the
UK labour market. Fieldwork will be mainly in London but with some
periods in Hull where academic support will also be available.
Closing date for applications April 25th, with interviews in London
June 4th. Applicants must have research training to Master's degree
level or equivalent experience in certain cases.
