Two records management posts have recently been created in Canterbury, one
for a qualified records manager/archivist and the other for a records
assistant. Staff from Canterbury Cathedral Archives have provided a records
management service to Canterbury City Council for many years. We are
pleased that the City Council have agreed additional funding for two
part-time posts to ensure compliance with the Freedom of Information
legislation.
Canterbury City Council
1. Freedom of Information/Data Protection Officer (salary range
£21,663-£25,653) pro rata - 20 hours per week
We need a dynamic records manager to play a key role in supporting our
compliance with Freedom of Information, Data Protection and information
security. You will also help develop and disseminate good records
management practice to meet the challenges of the legislation and lead the
Council towards BS ISO 15489-1. You will have a good honours degree, sound
knowledge of records management issues including ICT, excellent
interpersonal skills and experience of delivering results on time.
The post is initially offered at 20 hours per week but may increase if the
role expands.
2. Records Assistant (salary range £12,966-£15,549) pro rata - 17 hours per
week
We also require a records assistant to work with the staff of Canterbury
Cathedral Archives who carry out records management for the City Council. A
good team worker, you will have excellent organisational skills, be able to
act on your own initiative and have some knowledge of records management.

pension scheme plus benefits. A relocation package is available if
applicable.
