First, let me congratulate those who initiated this new list. Although a
librarian by training, at various stages of my career I've had to take
responsibility for records and for archives. I would have greatly valued
such a forum.
I'm currently working for the JISC's Technical Advisory Service for Images
(TASI), a unit which specialises in digitisation, particularly the
digitisation of image-based records. For those unaware of this service,
please see http://www.tasi.ac.uk/
TASI's website includes dozens of technical reports relating to
digitisation. Anyone can access these. In addition, TASI provides a
technical helpdesk (free for those in higher or further education) and a
workshop programme (competitively priced and open to all).
We have some workshops coming up in April that may interest some members of
this list:
-Beginners Capture/Digitisation - Thursday 10th April
-Setting up an Image Database and Metadata - Friday 11th April
-Image Processing and Manipulation for Collections - Thursday 24th April
-Advanced Capture/Digitisation - Friday 25th April
These practical full-day workshops are held at the University of Bristol.
Full details and an online booking form are available at:

With best wishes
Grant
