FOI Question:
* Type of organisation
* Do you have a designated Records Manager?
* Who is responsible for Freedom Of Information in your
organisation?
* Who is responsible for Data Protection in your organisation?
* Who is responsible for ERM / scanning standards in your
organisation?
When I was the Records Manager in municipal government I was assigned the
role of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Co-ordinator. It
was a medium sized city of a population of 56,000+ residents. We had to
ensure that we had a corporate records program in place first. All records
had to be scheduled, with a file classification schema in place before we
even contemplated the FOI program. In other words, all files had to have
R&D schedules and organized. Personal Information also had to be identified
in "Personal Information Banks". My role then as the Records Manager was to
work closely with the Information Technology Manager to organize and
identify electronic (your data) records. This included scanning and the
methodology related to this function. I hope this helps.
