Dear Franck,
our iView X HED gaze tracking system (http://www.smi.de/iv/index.html) has
been used in driving and plane simulators as well as in real car driving by
several research institutions and major car manufacturers over the past
years.
iView X HED is a head mounted eye tracking device that as a result provides
you a video showing the scenery as it is seen by the driver overlaid with a
cross hair indicating the drivers point of gaze. At
www.smi.de/iv/img/iV_Drive_01.avi you find a short sample video. If you or
any one else in the list are interested we are happy to sent you a CD
showing longer videos recorded under day and night driving conditions. Just
sent a short note providing your postal address directly to me: [log in to unmask]
Besides the easiness of use and the precision of the system our users
performing driving research mainly appreciate the design of the iView X head
band: Due to its comfortable and stable fit it allows for long lasting,
slippage free recordings - even in vibrating environments like a real car.
If you or any want else in the list want a demo - please let us know.
Best regards
Christian
P.S.: I do not know whether that's of interest for you: iView X is a modular
system. Besides the HED configuration it can also be configured as fully
remote eye tracking device (RED). However, due to design principles remote
eye tracker do not provide the scenery as it is seen by the subject (i.e.
the road) but provide gaze position on defined view planes like a display
(i.e. simulator screen) only.

Betreff: [EM_LIST] gaze tracking in car driving
Hello everybody,
We are starting some research on the sensori-motor processes involved in car
driving. For this, we are in the process of acquiring a gaze-tracker to be
used in a driving simulator and in a real car. We need something precise
enough to discriminate which part of the road the subject is looking at and
robust enough to vibrations. I wondered if some of you had some advice for
us. Has anyone some experience with one given apparatus, we would be very
grateful to know what limitations you encountered ?
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Franck Mars
