Conference Organiser International Service
6 month post - 21 hours per week - £19,776 pro rata – start date: end May
2003
to effectively organise an international conference "Mainstreaming
Disability in Development" which will take place in London on 12 November
2003. The conference is being organised by International Service,
Disability Action and Awareness (DAA) and Action on Disability and
Development (ADD) with support from the EU's European Year of Disabled
People. Following the conference there will be a day of workshops for
disabled activists from the North and South.
Your role will include responsibility for all organisational and logistical
matters, including liaising with speakers and the co-sponsoring
organisations, promoting and organising registration of delegates, publicity
for the event, and ensuring that all special needs are catered for at the
venue.
Essential requirements: proven organisational and interpersonal skills, some
experience of event organisation, understanding/awareness of disability and
development issues, IT literacy, and the ability to work with minimal
supervision, under pressure and to tight deadlines.
This post may be operated partly from a home base with weekly meetings in
the York office, or from a base in the York office.
