We are seeking to fill the following position at the Royal National
Institute for Deaf People.

Fixed term contract until September 2004, with possibility of an extension
or becoming permanent. Part time or job share considered
Up to £23,000 pa. pro-rata for part time/job share, inclusive of London
weighting and depending on experience
The Organisation
The Royal National Institute for Deaf People is the largest charity
representing the 9 million deaf and hard of hearing people in the UK.
The Position
To evaluate new technology developed for deaf and hard of hearing people.
This will involve designing, running, analysing and reporting on user
evaluations, alongside the Technology Outreach Worker, and using the
information gained to guide future development work.
Your Skills
You will have practical knowledge of experimental design and basic
statistical techniques, and good written and verbal communication skills.
You will have a high level of interest in the use of technology to benefit
deaf and hard of hearing people and high self-motivation.
Your Experience
You will be degree level qualified, or qualified by experience, in the
field of Psychology, Ergonomics, Human-Computer Interaction or similar.
Graduates will ideally have at least 1 years research experience beyond
this. An interest in, or previous experience of research in the areas of;
deafness, hearing, tinnitus, sign language and lip-reading would be an
advantage.
