My 12 year old daughter (Chinese American living in Canada) has been in schools where disabled children are present at the school, but not totally integrated into the classroom since she was 4. She has friends who are disabled and carries this acceptance into the world...church and her godbrother who has special needs. Contrast this with her Chinese Canadian girlfriend who has no experience of this...who refused to interact with her godbrother when she was entertained at his house...
There must be research which examines how all children benefit when there integration has been done with alot of support an in a thoughtful manner.

I remember reading an article that compared children's attitudes towards
physical disability in Hong Kong and the States (I think but it was a
while ago). I can dig out the details for you.
From personal experience with an 8 year old (learning/difficulty)
disabled son (with numerous siblings the oldest of whom is 10) no
children coming to the house have ever displayed any
interest/stereotypes/fear apart from a vague curiosity about him coming
home from school on a bus.
The one experience (so far) was a child in mainstream school asking me
why Connor went to Ill School because she'd seen him on a ill bus!
