You must be having a laugh with this posting Mark. Being disabled with MS I
am no longer as bright as a button and only achieved the Postgraduate
Diploma in Disability Studies with an overall mark of sixty percent.
As I now have brain clusters causing memory impairment, confusion and
general cognitive dysfunction I was happy with sixty percent as it was still
an achievement.
I already have an unrelated MA so natural progression would have been
towards a PhD but academia does not want stragglers and, of course, for
those of us who are in consequence of their disability unemployable, funding
is a great issue.
I was certainly made to feel unwelcome to apply so this invitation of PhD
opportunities at Leeds is for the preserve of the intellectually able and
not for the impaired.
