I remember reading an article that compared children's attitudes towards
physical disability in Hong Kong and the States (I think but it was a
while ago). I can dig out the details for you.
From personal experience with an 8 year old (learning/difficulty)
disabled son (with numerous siblings the oldest of whom is 10) no
children coming to the house have ever displayed any
interest/stereotypes/fear apart from a vague curiosity about him coming
home from school on a bus.
The one experience (so far) was a child in mainstream school asking me
why Connor went to Ill School because she'd seen him on a ill bus!
