Please note this call for submissions to a new electronic publication
(ludicrits). While it refers to a particular issue, we also welcome
submissions at any time for further editions.The editorial board is very
keen to receive submissions for scholars working in the area of design
history / material culture. The first (current) issue of ludicrits includes
an article on uniforms and modernity that may be of interest to list
members. It can be read at www.ludicrits.com.

submission date for issue 1.2 "on criticism #2": May 1st 2003
Criticism: what it is, what it does, what it cannot do, what it requires,
whether it is possible, who it addresses, what it services...
Submissions are invited which address the general theme of criticism both
within and across particular disciplines, including (but not restricted to):
design history, history, historiography, literature, social policy,
philosophy, visual culture, material culture, bio-sciences, legal theory,
political activism, the social study of technology, and education.
Specific pieces of criticism are acceptable, especially in as much as they,
in some manner, engage an aspect of the broader questions of criticism and
its possibilities.
Proposed submissions should be (major articles) 3,000-8,000 or (short
reviews) 1,000-2,000 words in length, submitted in Microsoft Word or rtf

ludicrits is an independent peer-reviewed scholarly electronic publication
