The biggest problem they face is getting the surgeons on board. There are a lot of Emergency Physicians up and down the country who are working at an unsustainable pace doing thrice daily ward rounds desperately trying to reduce bed occupancy. However the surgeons are causing the ESC the biggest headache, I hear from the e-mails and sit reports that are flying around at great expense to the tax payer.
They are citing reducing waiting lists and training issues and there are delays in patients languishing in A & E depts. waiting to be reviewed by the RSO who will not hit the 4 hour targets. Should be interesting come the end of the month.
