It would be useful to have two tiers of training in my view.
One would be at the level for staff working in Records Centre and in records
management programmes on the ground. I have three members of staff working
in the Records Centre here one of whom has expressed a wish to develop
records management rather than general administrative skills. I found it
difficult to find anything suitable (around the NVQ 2/3 level).
It would also be useful to have some form of training/professional
qualification which needed to be kept current with top ups of issues as they
become live in much the same as the Chartered Management Institute do with
their SMART on line training.
Most people in my situation would find it difficult to take time out to do
full time training so distance or on-line learning would be a premium.
