Danny - if your managers are cramming beds into cubicles on the minors side
of A&E etc. to try to satisfy the 90% 4 hr. target I think they are on a
very sticky wicket indeed. The latest Sitrep definitions are much more
specific in their definition of what constitutes a bed, an admission etc.,
and I am positive that the kind of tactics you describe would not satisfy
those requirements. I seem to recall John Hayworth asking that any such
abuses should be brought to the attention of BAEM so the powers that be
could act accordingly. Anyone out there from BAEM to confirm?
Sympathies and best wishes, Bill

> Our minor side is now frequently becoming a medical ward. When I was
first appointed consultant over 14 years ago it ran very efficiently and we
could zip through the walking wounded. Bums never sat sat very long on
seats usual thing. No need for Trick and treat. During the last 18 months
the whole thing has gone pear shaped. Due to excessive demand we now
routinely cramp beds into the cubicles and the whole system becomes log
jammed with Ambulances waiting to decamp their patients.

we will pass with over 90% compliance as the powers that be will cram even
more beds into the unit, including my office.
