Working Holidays is the answer to where all the Kiwi docs are.
I spent nearly 2 years in the UK - one at SHO level with lots of travelling
around Europe and one as a EM LAT with less (a little less anyway)
travelling. Working mostly in and around London - because I enjoyed living
and socialising there - and it was dead easy to go to Paris or Prague (
insert any large European or UK city here) for the weekend - I do miss that
bit.
Currently have spent my last SpR year and now my first consultant year in
Australia for some aussie EM - but heading home to NZ next year to look for
a EM consultant job - somewhere in the North Island
Ive enjoyed my time travelling, but have equally enjoyed the bulk of my
working life which I have spent in NZ.
I agree with Adrian and Derek that the cross fertilisation is important to
the speciality in all countries. Many ways to skin a cat as they say.
I would guess that about 10-15 % of NZ graduates migrate to Aus permenantly
and nearly 100% travel and work in the UK or Aus at somepoint, but most come
home eventually. It would be only a few % that would migrate to the UK
forever.
