No fax is secure - anyone passing by the machine can read the message as it
churns out.
In a general office faxes can be sitting in the tray for hours before they
are collected - or worse still - distributed by the office junior, who reads
them all as s/he walks up the corridor to relieve the daily tedium!
Then there's the question of whether you keyed in the right number - think
about how many 'wrong number' phone calls you get.
So faxes are only secure if sent to the correct number at a 'safe haven'
location where access is limited and / or the recipient is standing by the
machine to gather it up as it comes off.
I'd find another way to pass sensitive or confidential material whenever
possible.

Dear all,
Just a quick one and I expect you all know the answer - is fax secure i.e.
can it safely be used to send confidential information?
