Someone (I think Alan Stockdale - thanks for your web page by the
way) mentioned solid state recorders. I would be wary of trusting my
recordings to one. I have a Psion handheld computer which has its
main programs hardwired in. Every so often the mail program would
lose vital routines, and I had to reinstall it - I eventually figured out it
was after I had used the Psion near my phone, so I'm assuming some
kind of radiation effect that distrupted the Psion. I've probably made
some erroneous assumptions here, and would be glad to be corrected,
but I would be worried that passing a radiation source could wipe out
my recording in a way that would not happen if I used a tape or mini-
disk.
