Just a postscript to this discussion, I've thought further about my earlier
conclusions re Clatterbury Lane and don't think they are viable really - it
seems much more likely that the 'clatter' element just refers to a stony
road and the 'bury' element is a reference to the manor house of Wood Hall
nearby. Someone else has said that there is also a possible origin to
'clater' meaning burdock, but the name I am looking at definitely has two
't's.
