Dear Nick and other listers
I agree wholeheartedly with this, and cannot understand why so many sites
now are unavailable to us because we are not using the latest gimmickry.
They are missing out on probably 50% of web visitors who get messages like
we do e.g.
"this page is not available as your browser is not ....whatever it is
enabled" from Macro Flash or Frames or Java . We simply close down
the website and go somewhere else, so all the fancy unnecessary large
images and animations are detrimental. If we are looking for information,
we are not looking for entertainment - so it's horses for courses really
isn't it
The only website which has replied to our comments was one which had such
dreadful colour combinations of a dark blue text on a black background so
that it was illegible.
They replied that they were extremely grateful for the comments and would
have it changed, that they had no idea it was difficult to read, they just
thought it was pretty!
So there was one site organiser who listened, but mostly they probably
think any criticisms come from 'dodo' web visitors who should 'get with it'
and update their setups - poor business sense really isn't it. The ISPs
don't help either by telling us we should up date our programmes.
Cheers
Eunice and Ron in Queensland
