CO-MORBIDITY AND DEPRIVATION IN PRIMARY CARE AN ISSUE FOR CLINICAL
GOVERNANCE?
Friday 28 March 2003 University of Glasgow - New Medical School
9am-4pm
This meeting is a being jointly hosted by the Royal College of General
Practitioners Health Inequalities Standing Group and General Practice &
Primary Care at the University of Glasgow, UK.
We aim to consider the relevance of co-morbidity (physical, psychological
and social) to the current agenda in primary care and general practice.
Through workshops and group discussion we aim to explore some of the
complexities facing primary care and identify ways to address them in
effective and satisfying ways. Recommendations for the clinical governance
plans of primary care organisations will be generated, taking into
consideration the issues caused by co-morbidity, and these will be
circulated widely.
Workshop topics include: Sure Start, a community based approach to
supporting parents and children in disadvantaged areas; Complexity; Research
findings from the field of drug misuse and homelessness; Ethnicity and
co-morbidity; Co-morbidity - the research agenda; The contribution of
general practice data to co-morbidity - strengths and weaknesses.
