This paper focuses on regional differences in adult mortality in the Balkans. Unlike previous research the analyses presented in this seminar are looking at the sub-regional level rather than national level. They show a clear gradient in adult mortality with north-east having a higher adult mortality compared to south-west regions. These results reflect the two major divisions of mortality in Europe, between north-south and east-west. The seminar discusses possible explanations for these differences, with particular focus on dietary patterns in this area.
All welcome!
