The Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam (KIT) will organise an intensive short course on core topics in Health Sector Reform and Financing. The course will take place from 18-29 august 2003 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The course is accredited by TropEd.
Ever since the WDR 1993 Investing in Health came out, international initiatives to reform the health sector have been abundant. This course will be bring you up-to-date. Overviews will be given of topics such as health systems, involvement of the private sector, the role of the MoH, evidence-based policy making, priority setting, decentralisation, pro's and con's of different financing options, development finance etc.
There will be also be ample attention for the latest developments in international health and development, such as Sector Wide Approaches, Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers, debt relief under the HIPC scheme etc.
Participants will have the opportunity to get acqainted with practical tools, such as Logical Frameworks, SWOT analysis and Stakeholder analysis.
Applicants should be working in this field and have several years of experience.
