Research Associate in the History of Corporate Governance (2
posts), Department of History, University of Hull, UK
Applications are invited for two full-time two-year
(non-renewable) Research Associate posts to be based in
London and Scotland respectively, commencing October 1, 2003.
The Research Associates will form a team, led by Dr Robin
Pearson, on a major ESRC-funded project to examine the
evolution of governance practice in UK stock companies
1720-1844. The posts entail working in a large number of
business archives and involve travel to record repositories
away from base.
Applicants will ideally have a good degree in history,
economic history, economics or a related social science;
previous experience of historical research, particularly in
the fields of economic and business history, preferably at
doctoral level or equivalent; good knowledge of computing,
particularly in the use of Excel spreadsheets; the ability to
work as part of a team.
Salaries are on the Research Grade RA1A/RA1B scale (plus
London weighting for one post), maximum starting salary,
£20311.
