Calling all metafolk with an interest in images - both moving and still...
Please participate in the development of a proposal that will separate still
and moving images from the uber term 'image' in the DC.Type vocabulary. The
proposal will be submitted to the next meeting of the Dublin Core Usage
Board before early May. This will ensure it can be on the agenda for that
meeting and will give time for a month of public comment before the meeting.
The development of this proposal will take place within the DC.Type list.
Therefore you will need to join this list. For instructions on how to do
this go to:
http://dublincore.org/groups/type/
Although the DC site is a bit out of date, some discussion has begun and
there are links to papers that concern the proposal. As a taste, you might
like to consider the following definitions:
moving image: Any image created in a film, video, or other media format that
alters with time and that is able to be displayed or projected on a screen.
For example, movies, animations, television, multimedia, games, emerging
media, simulations.
still image: A still image is a primarily symbolic visual representation
other than text. For example - images and photographs of physical objects,
paintings, prints, drawings, other images and graphics, diagrams, maps. Note
that image may include both electronic and physical representations.
It's time to make an effort and contribute.
